You might have to reinstall OS 10.2 then.

What happens if you open Script Editor and type

    set a to "anything"

Will it compile when you click "Check Syntax"?

If yes, can you save the file as a compiled script, close it, then open it
again? Are you trying to open it by double-clicking? Can you open it from
within Script Editor?

If no, then you really must not have the AppleScript.component or
.framework, or some other essential element installed, Install 10.2 again.

This does not appear to have anything to do with Entourage.

Now, if the above 'script' works, can you do

    tell application  "Finder" to get name of every process

If that will compile, what about

    tell application "Microsoft Entourage" to make new draft window

Only if everything except the last one works would this have anything to do
with Entourage.
