Since you're in OS X, you can try just changing the extension from ".mbox"
to ".txt". That should work If not use some file utility to change the file
type from "MBOX" to "TEXT" as well, but the extension should be good enough.
Once it opens in Eudora, the creator type and icon will automatically change
to "CSOm" but you could always do that too.

"Folders Export from X" in my script package "Export-Import Entourage" does
all this for you, but it's not really necessary.
