What happens when you _uncheck_ those preferences? Do the colors go to black?
I see you have never install Service Release 1. It's possible that that fixed something related. In any case, you absolutely need to install it. it's at the MacTopia website (click Office for Macintosh button in Internet Explorer.) More than likely you have corrupted preferences. Go to ["Home"]/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/ and remove Entourage Preferences and Entourage (10) Settings files. Apply Service Release 1. If this doesn't work, you'll have to Remove Office X and reinstall it. Removing Office will not touch your data, which is in the Microsoft user data folder in your user Documents folder. Use the Remove Office X application in the Value Pack on the Office X CD. Then empty the trash. Then reinstall Office X. then apply SR-1 again.
