Because the previous behavior, irrespective of formatting, could remove huge amounts of text, 10.1.1 changes the behavior to always add instead of replace when in doubt. Unfortunately, there's a minor bug which seems to always add no matter what - it's connected with having your cursor near the sig line, which is where it usually is. It's a less serious bug, since no data is lost, but it sure is annoying, isn't it?
