I believe I've asked about this before, but haven't resolved the issues. I
have discovered a few more things and tried some things that DIDN'T help, so
I thought I'd bring this up again.

Usually I read my mail at home on my dual 1 GHz "mirrored doors" G4.
However, I try to keep my Entourage identity up to date on my PowerBook G4
400 MHz as well.

Sometimes, after I use Synchronize Pro X 2.0 to synchronize the two
computers (the folder I synchronize contains aliases to the "Main Identity"
folders on the two computers, as well as aliases to several other key files;
e.g, my Quicken datafile (which turns out to be a package, not a file), and
my Web Confidential passwords file), I won't be able to read new mail in
Entourage from the dual 1 GHz G4 because the retrieval of mail hangs with
the beachball spinning. If the PowerBook is networked, a "connect to server"
dialog pops up as Entourage tries to retrieve the mail, with the PowerBook's
hard drive selected. Once I log in and mount the PowerBook's drive on my
dual 1 GHz's desktop, the rest of the mail retrieval session proceeds
normally. Curiously, if the two Macs AREN'T networked, the desktop Mac can
EVENTUALLY retrieve all the mail from the POP server (it seems to do it in
increments of about 5 messages, one group every 5 minutes or so). I don't
have any automatic sessions scheduled. The other curiosity is that I don't
recall seeing this problem occur on the PowerBook when IT isn't connected to
the desktop machine.

If, after synchronizing, I retrieve some new mail to the Main Identity
database on the PowerBook, then synchronize AGAIN, I can disconnect the two
machines and conduct additional mail retrieval sessions from the desktop
Mac.

I've tried repairing permissions on both computers before and after
synchronizations. This doesn't help. Both machines are running Jaguar
10.2.3, but the problem began at least as far back as 10.1.5

Any idea what's going on?
