I'm 99% of the way to my personal solution to my frequent rant about "only
one address per contact in the Palm address book." At Macworld SF I was
handed a flyer for PocketMac Pro, which says it will synchronize Pocket PC
to the Mac (Entourage, Apple's Address Book) as well as Excel, Word, etc.

So, today I wandered into CompUSA and played with a PocketPC handheld
(admittedly, top-end device, the iPAQ h5400 - is it significant that its
name starts with a lower-case i?). I was blown away. Compared to my m505
Palm, this thing ROCKS! The screen is a delight, the address database has
enough fields, the interface is elegant, the handwriting recognition is
quite good (indeed, I may need to UN-learn Graffiti). Built in 802.11b,
built in Bluetooth, and it's about the same size as a Palm VII.

So, can anyone tell me why I SHOULD'T jump from the Palm OS to Pocket PC? I
know the battery life is measured in hours rather than weeks, but I can
remember to use the charger.

As a physician, the one Palm-only application I'd miss is ePocrates, but I'm
told there's a Palm OS emulator that runs on the Pocket PC, which solves
even that problem (although I'm told it's a hack, and not an endorsed one at
that).
