In my last message I quoted a message to the list from Paul. In trying to
find that message I ran into a strange issue.
I receive the list in digest mode, and have Entourage burst the digest into
individual messages. Those messages have the message author in the "from"
field.
If I view these individual messages in a folder, I can use the QuickFilter
to find messages where "From contains berkowitz" (in this example). However,
if I use Entourage's "More Options" search dialog to search a specific
folder for messages where the "From" field contains "berkowitz" or Paul's
email address, no messages are found.
I also notice that in the case of burst digest messages, the from and
reply-to fields are a bit odd. In fact, Entourage must use some kind of
internal linking, since the complete headers of a burst mailing list message
(example below) don't contain the list address, yet replies to that message
are correctly addressed to the list:
Subject: Re: Entourage, Address Book, and iSync
From: Paul Berkowitz <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Date: Tue, 14 Jan 2003 11:19:07 -0800
Mime-version: 1.0
Content-type: multipart/alternative; boundary="B_3125387957_2676979"
It just seems odd that -- for burst digest messages -- the QuickFilter will
find the message based on the "From" field, but an advanced search won't.
It's also a bit troubling that I may be missing messages in searches ;)
