Title: Re: Using Hotmail in Entourage X
You should first go to <http://www.hotmail.com/> and make sure you don’t have any corrupt junk mail messages in your inbox.  If you do, delete them.

Try changing your password at <http://www.hotmail.com/> to one with at least 8 characters.  Once that’s done, open up Entourage, and go to Tools -> Accounts.  Delete your Hotmail account, then click New.  Choose “Hotmail”, then OK, or click “Configure account manually” and choose the same.  Enter in your name/full e-mail address, then your account ID “gnye” and new password.  Click OK and try to receive mail.

Has anyone had trouble connecting to Hotmail using Entourage X (specifically 10.1.1, 2418 which includes the 10.1.3 update)?

After using the web interface for a while, I set it up in Entourage yesterday but continually got an error that the username or password is incorrect. I used the same password (typed and copy/pasted to be sure) that works successfully to log into Hotmail via the web browser as well as log into MSN Messenger. No success.

Finally, I changed the password a few times and on about the third try it started working. This worked fine for the rest of the evening. But, this morning, with all the settings saved and nothing changed, I once again get an error that the username or password is bad. Has anyone had this problem and/or know a solution?

I have:
  1. Run Keychain First Aid just in case and there are no problems
  2. Deleted the password from the keychain and let Entourage X add it again
  3. Use an email address of username@hotmail.com and an account ID of username
  4. Am able to log into Hotmail through the web browser as well as MSN Messenger using the same password and ID  as I try in Entourage X
  5. Installed all the updates including the 10.1.3 update
