if you ever edited a recurring event by shifting the time of day of any occurrence you have this bug, which will crash Palm Syncing of Calendar (DateBook). Even Advanced Rebuild won't fix it. Here's how to fix it (Diane - please add this to FAQ if not there. It applies only to Entourage 2001.)
1) Make a custom view of all calendar events except holidays. (<Category <Is not> <Holiday>. Holidays aren't actually recurring events, BTW.)
2) Sort it by name.
3) Now look for multiple events of the same date. Look to see if there are several of those on the same date and time, and also of there's a recurring event of the same name on an earlier date.
4) DELETE the recurring event!! Also delete the multiples - but it's the recurring that's corrupt and needs to be deleted.
5) Repeat for all and any other such clusters of events.
6) Do an Advanced Rebuild.
7) Optional: You can recreate a recurring event if you still need it. But NEVER edit it if you use Palm. (I'm not sure whether simply deleting a particular occurrence would be OK. I think it might be.) Always make an extra non-recurring on another time or date instead, if you need to.
8) Now sync to Palm.

Thanks Allen. Unfortunately the rebuild didn't solve the problem. I successfully synched the E2001 Tasks and Palm ToDos. Is it possible that the conduit only for the Calendar was corrupted? Does the Backup and Install conduits have to be enabled to synch? Any other suggestions are appreciated.

It would not be Datebk5 per se. It’s having some problem with your calendar data, though. I’d try doing a simple rebuild of your Entourage database. That often clears up sync problems.
On or near 3/9/03 2:14 PM, Marc Lambert at [EMAIL PROTECTED] observed:
I'm not sure if my E2001 conduit has been corrupted but I'm receiving the following error on my Palm m515: "The connection was lost. Some of your data was NOT backed up. Please check your setup and try again."

My cable seems fine and tests show that the Palm can communicate in other ways with my iMac (OS9.2.2). I was able to synch everything with Palm desktop 2.6.3 after switching conduit files. My conduit settings are: Backup, DocToGo (Do Nothing), Install (Do Nothing), and Entourage Calendar (Handheld Overwrites Desktop) to experiment with transferring at least the calendar. The user names are the same as far as I can tell. The iMac does run through it's routine in but quits without error during "reading handheld data", and the failure error appears on the Palm after hanging up on "synchronizing datebook". Could this have anything to do with DateBk5?
