Although I agree that it's nice to decide the number of characters at which
line breaks occur, in terms of the other feature, Eudora doesn't really
"turn it off" -- Eudora supports "format=flowed" text, which is a way of
designating (to supporting clients) where hard returns were originally
placed. The text is generally still broken at whatever length any mail
gateways between you and the recipient decided to use for line length; the
server-inserted line breaks are just ignored by the client (again, only if
it supports format=flowed). Most mailing list servers don't support it.
