Well, I got my hot sync working again. Can't really say how; it has to do with unnameable beta software.
At any rate, on styled notes: a note I styled in Entourage synced as a plain text memo to my Clie, even when viewed with WordSmith. I believe for WordSmith to pick up a Mac file as a styled document, it has to be stored in Rich Text Format. No way Entourage does that.
