Bryan, you are aware that there is a toolbar button to invoke Edit Message, aren’t you? I find that perfectly adequate and much prefer it to the menu item. It looks like a memo pad with a pencil with an eraser on it.


Only if you are in the habit of opening mail in it’s own window.  Very rarely do that – I mostly read in the preview pane.
