Alas, I now won't be using email that way. Since I'm going to be asking the client to go to the website to fill out a form, I don't also want to require them to reply to my email. I was told that Outlook had a feature that would automatically inform the sender when the receiver opened an email. Does Entourage have such a feature? Or is there any way I could get this to happen. That would fulfill my requirement for proof of receipt.
You are assuming that all recipients use an email client that would notify the sender that the message has been received. This would probably not be the case. You shouldn’t rely on a mechanism that is not going to work 100% of the time, especially as Entourage does not do it.
If you are going to be asking them to go to a web site to fill in a form, then the fact that they are going to that page signifies that they have received the message. Perhaps the link you provide in the email message should be unique to that message. Clicking on the link would then indicate to you that they have received the message, and are now acting upon it.
