Hi Remo,

I'm theorizing here but ...

According to the KB article that describes how to manually remove Office X
(<http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;312172>), all
Office files are either in the app folder or the Microsoft Preferences
folder or the MUD. When you uninstall/reinstall Office, the preferences are
recreated so that shouldn't matter. As for the MUD, it remains untouched by
an uninstall/reinstall, so that shouldn't matter either. So it would seem
that the only files that *would* matter in the situation you describe are in
the app folder.

On the other hand, if you had to do an Office uninstall/reinstall because
you were having problems with Office, I would think you'd want to install
each updater separately to be sure that a faulty updater installation was
not the cause of the original problem. If the reinstall were for reasons
unrelated to Office (say you had to wipe your HD), I don't see why it
wouldn't work. In that case, you could also back up and reinstall your
prefs and MUD.

I may have missed something here, but that's my theory.

Beth
