Yes, that did indeed fix the anomalies.

The HTML code generated by Adobe's GoLive embedded the following:

Content-Type: text/html; charset=us-ascii

Then, a bit further down:

<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html;charset=ISO-8859-1">

Does that mean I just need to learn how to select the right character set
preferences in GoLive?
