Greetings,

Following a case of database corruption that hit me on Halloween, I've
gotten a bit more serious about archiving my Entourage data. I had a recent
backup of my entire database, which saved my bacon in this case, but I also
want to have the data in non-Entourage form.

I know about dragging mailboxes to the desktop to save them as mbox files
(and I've discovered that you can also drag them directly to a _folder_ on
the desktop, which I find tidier). I've been able to open the exported mbox
files in Eudora, and the data seems to have come through well, with just a
couple of glitches.

One glitch was my Japanese-language data, which was illegible; I've fixed
that with an app called Jedit, which also converted file type from MBOX to
TEXT, as Eudora requires.

But a glitch (?) that I haven't figured out how to fix is with my Sent Items
mailbox. Only a fraction of the messages get exported (34 messages out of
the total of 465 as of my last try). Is this a general problem or is it just
me? Is there a way around this, other than moving all the sent messages to a
different mailbox or mailboxes (which I've already done, BTW, for everything
predating July 1 this year)?

P.S. Maybe this is one point in favor of using the option of saving sent
replies in the same folder as the original. I've never done that, because
often I find it handy to review the list of all the mail I've sent recently,
but I suppose I ought to be able to do the same with a custom mail view.
