I have Panther (10.3.1), Entourage (10.1.4), and Stuffit Deluxe (8.0.1). Dropping a folder on a message works fine. I'm asked if I'd like to compress the attachment, and when I click 'send' the folder is compressed. When I upgraded to Panther I re-installed StuffIt Deluxe, and applied the 8.0.1 update. Perhaps that will help.
