I don't have access to all my lists now so I hope this is going to the
right place. There are a few questions in this post. By way of
background: Someone bombed my email yesterday, sending at least 700
pieces of mail. I was using Entourage and something broke. I can't get
or fix my mail and it's all lost. Early in dealing with this, the Prefs
on that machine, my desktop machine, disappeared entirely. I think it's
possible the person who bombed the email, who is a programmer, was
responsible for the lost prefs, but I don't know. Apple's Mail program
isn't working on that machine either. My desktop machine is pretty
much inoperable right now and I've been working on the various problems
for so many hours and I'm starting to panic.

I had bought EntourAid a long time ago, didn't use it, can't find the
registration info and it seems it's not supported any more. I'd buy it
again if it would help get the reg info I need in order to unlock the
program. But it doesn't seem I can do that -- their web site is gone. I
need the registration info for this program as it is the only thing I
know of that might retrieve all my saved email. Anyone know anything
else? Entourage says it fixes the database but doesn't fix it because
Entourage won't open with that mail database.

I can't get Apple's Mail program working on the desktop machine. It
keeps erasing all the mail it gets. I'm working on my PB now and that
seems to be working but it has retrieved multiple copies of the same
mail. Does anyone know what is wrong? I do have AppleCare on both
machines so I probably can get help from Apple later today on the Mail
program problems but tips would help. I haven't used the program before
and am not setting it up easily.

Most important is fixing the desktop machine and getting the Entourage
mail database fixed. I keep running out of space on it -- Entourage
says it fixes the mail but then Entourage won't open. MSFT says it's
hopeless. At least part of the space problem is that Entourage makes
new databases every time it says it's fixed the database, and I think I
should save all the versions.

So, I have questions about how to fix the Entourage database, getting
EntourAid to work or any other program that could help fix the mail.

Perhaps someone who has an Entouraid registration info could email it
to me if there's no other way to get my own retrieved or even buy it
again. I honestly did pay for it.

I have questions about the problem with my OSX Prefs disappearing (they
are really gone) and if that could have been done by a programmer
through email he sent me or by somehow hacking into my system?
Possible? Impossible?

I'm still running OSX 10.2.8 on both machines. Desktop is dual 1GHz g4
with 1.5GB RAM, PB is the first 17" 1 GHz with 1GB RAM.

Thanks for any help at all.

Linda
