Almost certainly the spam is pretending to come from your own address, and
you must have the preferences set to link emails to their sender's address
book entry, so they are picking up the category you have assigned to your
own address book entry.

You can stop this by having the auto-linkiing turned off, deselecting the
family category in your own address book entry or by setting up a mail rule
to de-assign this category to any mail coming from your own address.
