This is going to be a little nonspecific, so I beg your pardon for that in advance.
Today our Exchange server basically freaked out. I don't know what specific error messages it produced, or what the conclusion so far has been, only that it completely stopped responding to any client requests (OWA went down as well). It has since been rebooted, with IMAP turned off. OWA works, and I assume the full client does as well. You can probably already see where this is going. Parts of the team that run the Exchange server have been...less than receptive to the idea of running IMAP concurrently with MAPI, and I'm afraid this is going to be used as leverage. Does anyone have any idea if it's even _possible_ for IMAP to cause an Exchange server to go haywire and quit responding? I know there isn't a lot to go on, but I'm hoping that maybe one of the MS types might be able to respond with some suggestions for how to go about asking the right questions of my server team.
