For me, it would be a bad design.  If I want to snooze an alert, I will
always want to pop the menu and choose a time delay.  That means I have to
mouse for the down-arrow, which is a tiny target.  The larger target (the
button) gives only a fixed and very short delay, a couple of minutes.
That's something I never use.

I would much prefer to see the snooze popup (and the others in Entourage)
acting like standard OS X popups.  One of the reasons I gravitated to Macs
(rather than PCs) is because the UI was more consistent when I moved between
applications. Variant controls, like these button/menu hybrids, can be
useful.  But their special behavior should be clearly communicated by a
unique appearance.  The snooze button looks very much like an ordinary
popup.
