Title: Re: "Sent" box
I wanted to add a way of backing up/trimming down to Allen's suggestions,  with one I learned from this list (I think Diane) about a year ago. It has saved me a ton of grief, meaning: a faster, more responsive Entourage, a smaller database, a way to categorize my emails, and a way to back up.

Around the start of each year, go into your Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office X Identities/Main Identity, and duplicate that Main Identity. Rename that copy "2003 Identity", or whatever year just past. This is also a good time to burn that 2003 Identity onto a CD as a backup. Then, start up Entourage. It will still be using the Main Identity, but now you can go in and delete whatever files you want, so that you can start the year with a tiny file. I initially thought I would erase ALL the emails, but in some folders, I realized I would need to review past emails,  so I now leave about a month's worth of Delete, 2 month's worth of Sent, etc.

Although Entourage can readily handle thousands of messages, the size of the
database does slow some things down. You can store the Sent Items outside of
Entourage easily; just drag and drop the folder onto your Desktop, and it
will create a "mailbox" file containing all the messages. Then, delete them
from Entourage.

When you need to refer to them, you can just drag them back into the folder
list.

Or, you can create an "Archive" identity in Entourage via the
Entourage->Switch Identity menu item. Open that identity and drag the
mailbox file into it. Switch back to your usual identity. The messages are
not part of the working database, but if you need access, just switch
identities and there they are!
