No, and no. (It's called "Abbreviated Date", by the way.) You can get the
abbreviated date - or whatever is in the source "Date" header (which is
always abbreviated date, as far as I know) by using the "short internet
headers" (reply at top) option in Prefs/Reply & Forward.
