Hi Reney,

Well, you may have never had this problem before, but I've never heard of it before.  When you say you can't view the attachments, do you mean that you double-click and nothing happens?  Have you tried saving them to disk and using File>Open from within the appropriate application?  Have you received attachments before from the *same* sources and been able to open them with no problems?  If so, did you uninstall or reinstall software around the time this problem occurred?

I guess I'd start with two basic troubleshooting procedures:  1) Rebuild your desktop (worth a try if you haven't done it in a while and especially if you've been installing software);  2)  Rebuild your database (Typical rebuild first; Advanced rebuild if that doesn't work).  Check the Apple Help if you don't know how to do the former, and see here if you don't know how to do the latter:  <http://www.entourage.mvps.org/faq/database.html#Anchor-3800>
