Mark, while I agree with you that many of the responses you've received
recently have been less than useful, at the same time, posts like the above
aren't very constructive, either. In my experiences, the people in the Mac
Business Unit are "Mac people" who want to make their products as good as
they can be. Although there are a few features from the OS 9 version of
Entourage that no longer exist (and even some features from Emailer that I
still miss), there are also scores of features -- arguably more important to
some users than being able to play custom sounds -- that have been added to
Entourage since Office 2001. Perhaps adding support for the ability to
easily select any sound on your hard drive would have taken development
resources away from implementing threaded message viewing. Sometimes that's
the reality of developing software. I doubt that any member of the Mac
Business Unit is purposely trying to punish you for being a Mac user ;-)

As a side note, some of the Entourage developers are active participants on
this list. A message like "I really miss this feature from the OS 9 version;
is there any chance we can get it back someday?" will probably get a better
response  ;-)
