I expect that this is NOT a font problem. It's a preference someplace or
other in Entourage 2004, or in Office. It's the same sort of thing as typing
( c ) (without the spaces and getting �. At least this happens in Entourage
X. 

It's trying to be bloody helpful and failing I can find the � and the � key
without help. At least I don't get � for o/ which would drive me really
batty. The � for ( r ) and � for ( c ) drive me bats.

You should to be able to override it by using Command-Z, but IMO that should
be unnecessary.
