I’m now convinced that it’s a glitch in some Installation CDs of Panther. I won’t be able to prove this until I do another install, this time from someone else’s Panther CDs. But I’ve heard enough reports on it that I do wonder if it’s a bad set of CDs.
Entourage 2004 help works fine, so it’s just any Apple-based Help programs.

Subject: Mac Help Quits
I am a new user of Mac. I have had G4 12" Power book for about 4 weeks. I
have been using the help function on and off as in Help on top tool bar
Library then Mac?. Sometimes it opens, with the initial screen I choose an
option which it tries to navigates to. I get the coloured wheel and then it
Quits and asks if I want to send the report to apple.
Do I need to insert the office disk or the operating disk that came with it
to reinstall the help? If so how as in will it auto boot into install and
reinstall over my updates or does it give be a repair option. I am hesitant
to put the disk in as not sure what to expect.
I have used the utilities to run permission repair etc and virus checked but
no improvement.
Any advice much appreciated
Cheers Graham
