When Entourage 2004 is first launched, it installs 77 fonts in my user
folder (by copying them from an Office:Fonts folder). I removed these
duplicated fonts from my user folder since they caused appearance problems
with another program.

Question 1: Has anyone experienced problems after removing these Office
fonts from the User folder?

Question 2: Can Entourage still use the Office fonts if they are only in
their original position in the Office:Fonts folder and not in a
User:Library:Fonts folder or in the startup disk's Library:Fonts folder?

In my limited experience, Entourage seems to work without these fonts being
in my user folder, and Entourage has so far not reinstalled these fonts from
the originals in the Applications:Microsoft Office 2004:Office:Fonts folder.

The 77 fonts in the Office folder did not show up in Font Book until after
Entourage First Run had duplicated them to the User:tom:Library:Fonts
folder. (Actually, only 69 of the 77 duplicated fonts were listed in Font
Book, with the 8 fonts designated "Windows TrueType" fonts not being shown
by Font Book. Presumably Entourage would still have recognized the presence
of these 8 fonts.)

If I put the 77 fonts in the startup_disk:Library:Fonts folder, the fonts
show up in the Computer section of Font Book, and the same appearance
problem still occur in the other program.

The appearance problem first seems to arise from one font (Cooper Black) of
the 77 duplicated fonts being used by the other program instead of whatever
font is ordinarily used by that program. (That program simply uses some,
presumably specific, font for display purposes; there is no option to
identify or change the font that the program uses.)

Disabling all the User fonts in Font Book doesn't solve the basic font
substitution problem; with the User fonts disabled, the other program shows
a different appearance problem - apparently one of the 8 Entourage fonts
that Font Book doesn't show is then being used instead of the font
ordinarily used by the other program.
