Sorry, I knew I had a hard time saying what I meant; not only that, I’ve encountered some new user problems in replying to your message:
- (New side issue: I clicked “reply” with your message open; somehow, this reply doesn’t show you as authoring part of the quoted messages. I tried clicking on the “edit” icon in your message and then replying, but that didn’t help.)
Try the following menu command: Entourage:Preferences:Reply and Forward. Then check off the options to include the message in the reply along with the attribution.
- What I meant to ask was something like this: I want to get the entire thread when I search, not just the particular messages in the thread that have the search term. For instance, if I search for “message body contains location” and “message body contains popup,” I get your message. What I would like to do is to be able to search further and get the entire thread in which the found message(s) occurs. It’s no problem with one hit, but it becomes harder getting the threads when there are multiple hits. My goal is to be able to look at the entire thread since other messages in it may deal with Excel but not mention Excel by name.
It looks like you are trying to do what is in the following menu: View:Arrange By. Select “Show in Groups” and “Subject”. This will display all of your messages with the same subject together in one group.
Unfortunately, when you do use the HTML, the numbering is automatically updated. As you can see above, all of your numbers were “updated” in my reply to “1”. This is only in HTML.
- (New side issue: Oh oh! I just tried to put extra returns between the auto-generated numbered paragraphs, but that restarted the numbering for the following paragraphs. There’s probably some way for me to fix that, but I think it will be easiest if I avoid HTML as much as possible. I only used HTML to get an indent in my first message – it seemed so simple/enticing then.)
