You are correct. You cannot copy the "hidden" URL. Even if I click and jiggle the mouse on the URL, which seems to select it, there is no contextual menu, and the Edit/Copy menu item is disabled. If I carefully select some text before and after the URL, including it, and copy, the result is the display text of the link, not the URL.
