Well, over the weekend I took the time to upgrade from Office V.X to Office
2004. I did so based on the encouragement of the leaders of this board, and
I'm very glad I did. Although there is a little time required to learn the
new features, I encountered none of the problems cited by others in doing
the upgrade.

I have found that my primary IMAP problem, that of messages being renamed in
the inbox, has indeed gone away. In fact, the IMAP experience is greatly
improved and appears stable even under a heavy load.

However, I have not turned on any of the spam filtering included in the new
Entourage, even though it looks very powerful. That's because I'm using
Mailblocks.com (I am only a customer, and have no connection with the
company) for spam filtering, and it is 100% effective with minimal
administrative overhead. While it was problematic in the face of the way the
previous version of Entourage handled IMAP, with the fixes in the new
Entourage this looks to me like the perfect way to eliminate spam.

I won't get into a commercial; check it out for yourself. I'm happy to have
an off-line dialogue with anyone wanting more information.
