Did this for me too. However in my case the ball didn't start spinning right
away and would stop for awhile before resuming spinning. I would thus cycle
until I closed the source window.

Entourage would behave normally when the ball was not spinning. Thus I did
have control of my system and did not have to force stop anything. And in
the two attempts I tried the ball didn't start spinning until I tried to do
something. (Scroll the window or move the cursor over another window.) -- I
don't know if this is real or if the timing was a coincidence.
