LaunchServices is at the root level Library. My understanding is it keeps
track of where an application is located for launching.

I was having a problem with Spell Catcher X when I would switch to my backup
system. Evan Gross, Spell Catcher's author had me delete this file and
launch SP so the Finder would reconnect. Worked great.
