I've figured out a fairly safe workaround. Select those messages from people you trust, and click the Junk button. Then, go into the Junk E-mail folder, click on the message, and select the Not Junk button. Then, select the third radio button in the window that pops up - Classify all messages sent from the sender's domain as "not junk." From then on, messages from those domains you've selected will automatically download the pictures.
