Are you both checking the same accounts? I find that some of my e-mail
accounts take longer to check than others. My EarthLink account can be
checked in less than two seconds (including downloading a couple of
messages) while my .Mac account takes more than four seconds (without
downloading any). And other accounts I have can range from less than one
second to more than seven seconds.

As far as search performance goes, Entourage 2004 is faster than X, but, in
general, yes, OS X is slower than OS 9. I don't think we'll know if Tiger's
speed improvements (I think it's safe to assume there will be some,
especially for those using G5s) assist Entourage until it comes out next
year.
