You can "Empty Cache" for just the folder you click on. It is true that links and categories (and probably association with a project) are lost. In my case, links and categories would be reapplied as I have messages automatically link to and categorized by the Address Book contact. I've also noticed that message history (whether the message is a reply or a forward, etc.) are preserved in at least some cases. > This seems like a heavy price to pay for recovering the removed > attachment(s) of a single message. I didn't know if it would (I said "may"). I was offline when I composed the message so I couldn't verify it. > And where is the command "Download all Message Bodies"? If you mean the > "Download complete messages in Inbox" option for the account or the "Receive > Entire Message" command, these would have no effect if the message with the > removed attachment(s) has already been fully downloaded. My advice was based on the fact that I'm using Entourage 2004 and don't have v.X installed anymore. In 2004, when you Control-click an IMAP folder, the contextual menu has an option to "Download all Message Bodies". Reading back through the thread, I notice that the original poster is using Entourage v.X (as are you). That option may not exist in v.X. > If you can access the mail server through a web interface and move the > message back into the Inbox, it would seem a simpler way to recover removed > attachment(s). Excellent advice. I wouldn't necessarily agree that it's the simplest, but I would agree that it is the best/cleanest way to accomplish the task. My offerings were only secondary suggestions in the event that the poster did not have web access to his IMAP account or if he didn't mind losing the information lost by "Empty Cache". Emptying the cache is "simpler" in that it is only 3 steps (ctrl-click, empty cache, repair message list) as opposed to lauching (or switching to) your web browser, going to the webmail URL, entering username/password, clicking on folder with message, clicking check box next to message... Your advice is, of course, the more elegant solution. -Remo Del Bello -- "Your son is a very sick boy. Just look at these x-rays. You see that dark spot there? Whiplash.
