I have a list of complaints from our Mac community about Entourage and would appreciate any help I can get to point out where we might be misconfigured, where Microsoft may already be working on a fix and where long term prospects of a fix might b in order.
Our Environment is Exchange 2k3 and the Mac users are running OS X (Panther 10.3.5) and Entourage 2004 (previously they were on Outlook 2001)
- User needs Read Receipts and we have been unable to come up with a clean way of doing this.
You can set it up manually in by adding in the "Disposition-Notification-To" header in Tools > Accounts for the user's Exchange Account. I agree that this method is not intuitive at all.
2. User complains about connect speed when out of office on a dial-up. If he hasn't connected for many days it is very slow to download all of his email. That's a known issue.
Correct, that's a limitation of Entourage. You can use an application like Paul Berkowitz's "Message Template" script to set up templates with the settings you want.
3. User wants to have a default color other than black on their outgoing emails. They seem to have to change color every time they create a new email.

That's a limitation of Entourage. You can search the Global Address List in Tools > Directory Services, but cannot browse it in the same way you can in Entourage.
4. User wants to browse the GAL list as they could in Outlook 2001
Download and install the latest Office 2004 update, which is Office 2004 Service Pack 1. Service Pack 1 includes a number of fixes that are documented in this article on the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
5. User complains about constantly losing connection to the server an having to re-enter their password even though they have put a check to remember in the keychain.

In Office 2004, use Microsoft AutoUpdate to get the latest updates. From any Office application, go to Help > Check for Updates (or manually launch Microsoft AutoUpdate from the Applications folder). If any updates are needed, they will display in a sheet, at which point you can check them and press the "Install" button to download and install them.
Updates can also be found at the Microsoft web site:

Also, try running Keychain First Aid. Launch Keychain Access (/Applications/Utilities), go to Window > Keychain First Aid, type your password, click the "Repair" button, and click "Start".
The Macintosh Business Unit at Microsoft who develop the Mac versions of the Office applications do read this mailing list, so suggestions here should be recorded. You can also send feedback using the web form, though that's not necessary any longer since the list is being read by the Macintosh Business Unit. In Entourage X or 2004, go to Help > Send Feedback on Entourage. Otherwise, click on this direct link to enter Mac Product Feedback:
I know there are others but this should be a great start!
Thank You,
Kevin Doyle, MCSE
