If you click on the triangle to expand the Progress Window, it should stay expanded for future downloads until/unless you click it again to collapse it. However ...
I, too, like to keep the Progress Window expanded and it stayed that way until a few days ago when it showed up in collapsed form for no apparent reason. I assumed that I had accidentally clicked on the collapse arrow ... but perhaps not and this actually is a UI glitch?
