That's not quite right, Diane. Each Office version has its own Office
Notifications app in its own Office subfolder. Only if the one in Microsoft
Office X/Office/ is running will you get both at the same time. And if they
both are showing reminders you'll see both versions in the Dock and two sets
of reminder windows.

You can also turn it off from within Office Notifications itself in Office X
Office.

The important thing is to get that unwanted X version out of Startup Items.
Best way to do that is to go to System Preferences/Accounts/you/Startup
Items in Panther (or Sys Prefs/Login Items in Jaguar) and remove ALL copies
of Microsoft Database Daemon you see there. Then quit all apps and Log Out
(Apple menu) and Log In. Then launch Entourage. You'll be asked of you want
to turn on Office Notifications and you can say Yes. Now you will have only
the one version appearing.

There's no immediate need to delete Office X. After all, if you're keep the
Office X identities around presumable it's because you might want t go back
there to check something. (Although you could import the identity - under
another name - into 2004, I guess.) There's some particular issue with
PowerPoint 2004 (I forget what) that makes a few people prefer X too. Just
keep its Office Notifications OFF if you open it up. You might have to
repeat all the steps above if you ever do.

PLEASE always state which version of Microsoft Office you are using -
**2004**, X or 2001. It's often impossible to answer your questions
otherwise.
