Hello to all of you who have been making suggestions to help. I finally got it solved. Here's how: Larry Stone was very persistent in his suggesting steps to take. He thought that my dial up, copper.net must be blocking traffic to other SMTP servers. I called copper.net tech support. Spoke with someone who didn't know anything. He said no they don't block.
Emailed the people who host my website drshane.com, where I get my mail. They said yes, my outgoing SMTP should be mail.copper.net, not mail.drshane.com. I changed my Entourage account settings. It works! Called copper.net to find out some more. Spoke with someone who is very knowledgable (whew!). Asked her how come for years I was able to send mail using SMTP mail.drshane.com and suddenly about two weeks ago, that stopped working. She said that copper.net always blocks traffic to other SMTP servers and that for some reason this blocking function just hadn't been working with regard to my account and that recently it just started working. Is that bizarre or what! I hope all of this is useful to some other people. Thank you, team, for your gracious willingness to be so helpful.
