Hi everyone!

I have serious problems and two days of ‘googling’ have not been of help so
far...

Our previous mailserver (AIX with sendmail) broke down and got replaced (PC
Linux & sendmail).

Everything were doing fine at first, but I started to get responses from
some people that they could not read my mail, and these are people that
never had any problems before!

OK, so I started to suspect the new mailserver, and a comparison of the
source of mail sent before and after the switch revealed the following:

Before:
> Mime-version: 1.0
> Content-type: multipart/mixed;
>     boundary="B_3185800060_1386450"
> Status: RO
>
>> > Detta meddelande ?r i MIME-format. P? grund av att din e-postl?sare inte
>> f?rst?r
> detta format, kommer hela eller delar av detta meddelande inte att vara
> l?sbart.
>
> --B_3185800060_1386450
> Content-type: text/plain;
>     charset="ISO-8859-1"
> Content-transfer-encoding: quoted-printable

After:
> Mime-version: 1.0
> Content-type: multipart/alternative;
>     boundary="B_3190703573_25478940"
> Status:
>
>> > Detta meddelande
> r i MIME-format. P grund av att din e-postl
> sare inte frstr
> detta format, kommer hela eller delar av detta meddelande inte att vara l
> sbart.
>
> --B_3190703573_25478940
> Content-type: text/plain;
>     charset="ISO-8859-1"
> Content-transfer-encoding: quoted-printable

As You notice the swedish characters in the first part that tells that this
message contains MIME formated data (this is generated by entourage btw.)
are now stripped away and some will break the lines.
This will confuse some versions of Windows Outlook, so they will display
this part instead of the real message that comes in the next MIME chunk,
messages formated like the first example works fine...

So I’ve tried some options in sendmail, used different EightBitModes and
DefaultCharSet but I can’t get this to display as before, no matter what’ve
done I get the result of the last example.

We are just a few Entourage users and the Windows users have had no problems
so it’s basically up to me to fix this even if it definably looks like it’s
sendmail that’s misbehaving.

Any ideas anyone?
