Jeremy,

Thank you.

I dont what Im doing wrong then. I can connect to the server over the LAN
and the web, but no folders.
I dont have any where near 50 MB of stuff on the server. I move it all
locally. I have outlook running. Will that make a difference having to
apps accessing the same ex. Server.
I could see the folders with the last version of entourage.
The wizard doesnt help either.

Any ideas please?

Thanks,

David.

LDAP, to my knowledge, is useful in Entourage 2004 for the following tasks:

* "Check Names" and Tools > Directory Services lookups

* Initial setup of delegate access, for each principal whose account you are
viewing

Because it's used for "Check Names" and you'll probably be using that a lot,
yeah, I'd consider it essential. However, it should not be required for
viewing the rest of your Exchange mailbox/account -- inbox, subfolders,
calendar, address book, etc.

Some/many organizations may choose to block LDAP access to their Exchange
servers, possibly considering it a security risk. So you may have problems
using it. Technically, it is using LDAP lookups against a Global Catalog
server, to simulate but not exactly mimic a Global Address List lookup.

If you are not seeing your inbox or other folders, you've got something else
wrong. Does the setup wizard find information while you're trying to set up
the Exchange account initially?

If so, that's a good start, but may not be entirely appropriate for the
Exchange servers used in your environment. (For example, at my university,
that setup wizard finds servers that will work, but they are not preferred
-- we have load-balanced host names that we want people to use, rather than
pointing directly to single servers.)

The setup wizard working is half the battle. If it doesn't, LDAP lookups to
the GC probably won't work for you, either. The next hurdle is taking those
settings and letting Entourage sync for a while -- for a large account (50
MB or greater in quota used), it can take anywhere from an hour to a day to
sync your data, in my experience. Be patient, and realize that the inbox,
calendar, and address generally sync before any other subfolders.
