A work around I use, mainly in my Possible Junk folder to stop me opening potentially problem eMails is this-
I leave a harmless message in the folder permanently with a brightly coloured category. I view by date so this file is always at the bottom. I select it, then select all. By holding down the Command key I can then deselect the harmless message and any others that are possible genuine articles, and then either delete the rest or use the Nuke Messages script.
