Thank you, Paul. Your reply made me think of the French version of Word,
which by default adds all sorts of spaces in front of and after certain
punctuation marks (e.g. ?, ! And, of course, :).

I am assuming that this language-specific functionality for the French
version of Word might be present throughout Office, thus in Entourage as
well.
