And also not if you are (as you should be nearly always for efficient mail
reading) viewing using Mail View folders, I believe?

PS: Allen's comment on the additional power of the grouping metaphor is
important: used well, you can get nice Mail Views now, sorted internally,
though not threaded, per se.
