By the way, Entourage may well be the application on top at wakeup-- I usually check my mail just before shutting down for the night. But the open messages are almost certainly NOT at the front, as the last thing I always do is examine the mail window to check for new messages. So any controls I might accidentally hit would apply to the "mail" window, not an individual message.
