With Entourage 2004, Microsoft decided to utilize the OS X Network Preferences settings instead of an internal proxy settings for sending/receiving mail. I have been unable to get POP mail through our work proxy server since I upgraded from Ent. X (checking Hotmail works fine through the proxy). I don't get an error message until a timeout. Here's what I have done so far:
1) I put the proxy address into each of the proxies in the Network Preference panel for my airport (I do get an error if I deselect the SOCKS proxy). 2) I have placed the proxy address (both the ip address and the name address) in the "Bypass proxy settings for these Hosts & Domains" box. Nada. Entourage 2004 just waits on "Connecting to pop.earthlink.net" in the Progress window. Ideas?
