Mac Panther 10.3.3 - 10.3.9, Mac Tiger 10.4.2
Office 2004 with all but SP2 updates installed
Entourage 11.1.2 with Windows Exchange Server 2003

If you are hesitant about installing SP2 in office 2004, you can do a
workaround on the installation with updates to but excluding SP2 and
still have Office 2004 work just fine, until a fixer comes out.

1. Remove previous versions of Office X or 2004 trial demo from your
computer. Empty the trash.

2. Install Office 2004, which is usually just drag the folder to your
Applications folder.

3. The sequence I use is launch either Excel or PowerPoint first; wait
on Word and Entourage.

4. It should prompt you to install the MS Autoupdater. Install it.
>From there you can download these updates from the mactopia.com
Microsoft site (Downloads) and manually them.

5. The sequence of installations are:
        A - MicrosoftAU112Update
        B - Office2004-1110UpdateEN
        C - Office2004-1111UpdateEN
        D - JunkE-MailFilterUpdate1
        E -Office2004-1120UpdateEN

6. First chance you get, check the auto update box to "manually" so you
are not prompted to install SP2. SP2 does include the Office 2004-1111
update, Office 2004-1112 update, and the Junk E-Mail Filter update.

Since I maintain over 30 Macs in our division, I warned the users not to
install SP2 and to follow step #6. In this way, the Macs will have
Office 2004 with all the updates up to but excluding SP2, at least until
I know the exact steps to take to install and fix Entourage so the
problems and bugs mentioned in this list-proc are fixable easily.

Thanks.

Here's my take...
Just install the damn thing! If it doesn't work for you then recover
from backups.

As far as I'm concerned it works just fine and I live in the freakin'
thing!!!
