I will assume that you are not permanently connected to the ‘net.
One issue that has been brought to the fore by the recent upgrade is the presence of older Directory Services servers which are no longer in existence. If, as I suspect, you have the ‘check addresses for validity’ feature turned on, then Entourage is checking the validity of the email addresses you are entering against those defunct servers.
If my conjectures are correct, the solution is simple.
Open the “Account Settings” menu item in the Entourage menu; click on the ‘Directory Service’ tab in that panel, and delete all those servers. As they no longer exist, there is no use for them.
Except that Richard has an exchange account, which has an LDAP server that is valid. An alias to it also appears in Accounts/Directory Services. he should not delete that one when he deleted the other defunct ones inherited from earlier versions of Entourage.
