While I have not yet upgraded to Office 2004, the problem described seems
such that it might arise as a corrupt or problem email is rendered. This
leads me to suggest that the user in question be advised to turn off
"preview" while the problem is further studied, opening mail individually to
read, etc. If the "problem" does not appear while in that mode, this would
further the hypothesis that there is at least one corrupt message in the
database.
FWIW, this sounds somewhat akin to the problem I set out 9/27 to this list
"Crashing on Viewing Certain HTML Messages (Entourage X)" that, so far, sits
in the database of postings with no replies. I have a suspect HTML that I
would like to send to anyone OFFLINE (handle with care!) for analysis or
confirmation that it makes Entourage, at least Ent. X, unhappy. Unlike the
writer from UMASS, mine crashes Ent X altogether (with stated error -190).
